On the 13-07-1958 Keith Campbell, one of my favourite riders, was killed at Cadours on his 500cc Norton after winning the 350cc class. Does anyone remember something about how and why this accident happened?

well jan according to moto revue campbell won brilliantly the 350 race and did the fastest start in the 500 and he had already made a gap with the other riders when he fell off during the first lap in the corner after a fast downhill - he hit the kerb and died instantly of head injuries - maybe he was killed by what we call in french le coup du lapin which is in fact the break of the cervical vertebraes sorry we don't know more
