At Aprilia we always used dental hand pieces.
D&H if I remember well.
We made about 400 cylinders a year, working in a team of 3.
We broke maybe 2 or 3 a year, which was not so bad in my opinion

I use disposable, with 2 or 3 per cylinder is sufficient, works out cheaper than a new high-quality and then it can spoil

It is spectacular. It is a 125 cc kart engine with the 30 mm Dellorto carb and the low compression ratio that are mandatory for kart engines but nevertheless it produces 70 HP at 17500 rpm as compared to the 54 HP at 13000 rpm of the Aprilia RSA.
It uses regular Euro-95 petrol without oil added to it, its fuel consumption is more economical than conventional two-strokes and there are over 80% less emissions.

The Federal Internationale de l'Automobile has approved the Ryger homologation last saturday.
Some patents are still pending and this is the reason I cannot tell more about the engine yet. As soon as the patents are granted I will give more details.

Jan or Frits how much port offset (undersize) was needed to get the casted duct grinded on spec?
How was the template build and applied?

And Frits was there any offset for your FOS cylinder and the SLM process needed?

Il est très intéressant ce moteur RYGER 125cc de 70HP: le plus puissant 2T jamais construit? avec une simple admission à clapets. Si l'Aprillia de 54 Hp à 13000 rpm pouvait monter à 17500 rpm ( comme le Ryger) en conservant son efficacité de respiration, il développerait 73 hp, soit une puissance voisine, mais est-ce possible? Il semble que cette bride brillante à la base du cylindre soit une partie du "secret" du rendement. Les très faibles émissions sont aussi un des aspects remarquables de ce moteur. Yes Dan, if we look at the Mean Effective Pressure, Jan Thiels achievement is still unsurpassed. The virtue of the Ryger engine is that it can maintain this high MEP value at much higher revs, and with a lower specific fuel consumption.
