The organisers of the Vauxhall International North West 200 have responded to the difficult financial situation that currently faces bike racers and their teams by dropping all entry fees for competitors for the 2013 race. The fee was previously £100 per race so there will be a considerable saving for any individual rider or team that was competing in multiple races.
‘The Coleraine and District Motor Club Ltd are very aware of the pressures facing riders at the moment as they struggle to find the sponsorship and support to get to the grid.’ Event Director Mervyn Whyte, MBE, explained. ‘We have tried to take a positive step that will make it easier for everyone to race at this year’s North West.’
Mr Whyte also announced that there will be some important changes to the Vauxhall International 2013 North West 200 Race Regulations to fall in line with FIM Regulations. The changes will include
1. Front brake lever guards will become mandatory for all classes i.e Supersport, Superstock, Superbike and Supertwin. This change is intended to protect the handlebar brake lever from being accidentally activated in case of a collision with another motorcycle.
2 Rear brake lights will also be mandatory in all classes as above, intended to be used during a wet race or in low visibility conditions as directed by the Clerk of the Course.
3 17 inch wheels will become mandatory for Superbikes in 2014. For 2013 event either 16.5 or 17 inch can be used.
Competitors have been asked to note that Regulations will be available on the web site - www.vauxhallnorthwest200.co.uk
from this week and these can be downloaded. No Regulations will be issued through the post only entry forms.
