| closed loop, you can see from the way the lambda cycles. |

You shouldn't see cycling on a dyno run: a) they'd be using a wide-band sensor, so not simple on-off feedback; b) any sane self tune algorithm uses a large damping factor so only small corrections to the fueling table would be made in the space of a single pull; c) you'd hope that enough mapping runs would have been done that the tables would have stabilised. If you look closely, the bumps in the lambda correspond to bumps in the torque curve, ie resonances in the intake & exhaust systems. So you could easily see these curves with an open loop system. In any case, there's no obvious sign of a sensor in this pic: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image] |

| Yea I guess it could be resonances building up althoguh I would have thought that Honda would have tuned that to not be so apparent in the power trace. I am not familiar with the ECU systems, either Nippon Denso or Del Orto so I was guessing a bit, personaly I would want to run open loop using airbox pressure and wide band lamda, but as I say I do not know how they are mapping either of the systems (probably soemthing more clever than I have thought of!) |

| The Honda graph stipulates 'corrected engine power', so it is difficult to compare the power to the Aprilia values that were measured at the gearbox exit. In order to enable a direct comparison I converted the Aprilia values to crankshaft power and then the picture looks like this: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]At first glance the Honda is better below 11.000 rpm, but that is deceptive; it would only be true if both engines were compelled to use identical transmission ratios. If we give the Aprilia a somewhat shorter gearing than the Honda, the picture will look like this: [Vous devez être inscrit et connecté pour voir cette image]Like Michael Burgard says: it is a shame that the 125 cc class was sacrified for engines that cannot even match the power of the 125 cc two-strokes despite double the cylinder capacity. |

| Ok, ok, thank you Frits... It is interesting, as usual! Aprilia? Which one? Probably a gorgous RSA, compared with our "poor" Stock NSF ("poor" is not linked with the price, of course)... Wait for the "not poor at all" NSF Kit loaded with one million dollars parts! |

| @frits exactly @marc not with 100million euros the Honda NSF 250R engine will be better performing as the best 125 2strokes wich could exist........ I hope that the other Moto3 engines will be work better as the Honda ones, and that they will be never win a Moto3 race |

Yes, I took the best-ever power curve from the RSA125. Wouldn't you have done the same ? This 'stock' NSF-curve may not be so stock... I've heard rumours that the 48 HP-version is 'less than reliable'. The production version may be delivered with about 44 crankshaft-HP . - Marc a écrit:

O Yes! That will really make racing cheaper compared to those damned 125 cc two-strokes . |

I agree and wish we still had 2 strokes However, i have not seen horsepower graph for the KTM engine (but my rider is riding one ) I am VERY reliably told that the KTM is putting out well 'North' of 50 HP !!! (at last Jerez Test) and a little more has been found recently We may see more next week at the IRTA test, if not, certainly in Qatar |

| If the power comparaison were somewhat close to reallity, then explain me the close top speed between 125 and Moto3 in Valencia CEV or if you "badly" compare for Jerez test ...
OR, why Moto3 lap already almost as fast as the 125cc in Jerez at least ?
I'm no PRO 125 or Moto3, but seriously, 60HP @ 500.000 Euros ... as a rental !! Sorry to say, I prefer 50HP and own the bike. |

I dont know if you are 100% right with this message.........did you really think that one season Moto3 is cheaper than one season 125 in the past? I dont think so.........but we will see how much it costs if this season is done...... |

| Smoke and mirrors! Marc can you confirm that the dyno run came from a brand new out of the crate NSF or from someone at Monlau? I do agree that It was only the Monlau bike that looked nearly as fast as the Aprilias at Jerez last year, the stock NSF looked woefully slow in comparison. |

| Well, in term of chassis, sorry to say, if the cost get over 60.000 Euros a year (for a Honda) with spare and everything ... somebody is stealing money from you !
Then, thanks to the rule that is protecting more the teams than the manufacturer, with 100.000 Euro, you complete the season in term of engine.
So if you had suspension and so-on, you get close to 300.000 Euros, and most important, you OWN everything, so you can either sell the material or re-use next season.
In this particular case, you own at least 2 complete bike ready to race, and 2 spares engine. So yes, to run same or (wait and see) faster laptime, moto3 is more economical.
All this, remind me of 2009, when everybody spit on Moto2. Truth is, Moto2 IS cheaper than 250cc, and we are lapping faster than 250cc ... |

| Isn't that normal that the Moto2 go a little faster than the 250? With an increase of 2.4 of the displacement, it would be unhappy that the Moto2 cannot go faster than 250 ... |

| Well let's re-read the post from back in 2009, were almost everybody said it will be impossible for 600cc standard engine (Yes because they are standard, no SSP) and more weight to go faster ...
Easy trick now to say that it was obvious .... |
